In the serene village of Gelabil, nestled in the heart of Rangagora, Golaghat district, Assam, resides a woman of remarkable resilience and determination - Mrs. Doli Bora. Her journey from household responsibilities to financial independence is a testament to her unwavering spirit and the transformative power of skill development.

Doli's educational path was interrupted when she had to leave school after completing the eighth grade due to family constraints. Embracing her new role as a wife to Mr. Dibeswar Bora and settling into her new family in Gelabil, she found herself with the responsibilities of managing their home, enriched further by the presence of their one-and-a-half-year-old child.

Despite her primary focus on family duties, she was determined to contribute to her family's income whenever possible. Joining a Self Help Group (SHG) in her village showcased her commitment to collective progress.

Doli's life took a significant turn when she discovered the training programs offered by Don Bosco Tech. Introduced to this opportunity through the success story of Mrs. Abanti Pradhan, an alumna of Don Bosco Tech Golaghat Center, Doli seized the chance for transformation.

Enrolling in the Mushroom Grower training under Project Accenture-12, Doli, alongside 20 other women, embarked on a journey to redefine her life. Her trainer, Mr. Pankaj Hazarika, recalls her dedication, attending both theory and practical classes without fail.

Doli's passion for mushroom cultivation was evident. Upon completing her training, she wasted no time initiating mushroom cultivation at home, with guidance from her trainer. With minimal investment, she prepared a suitable area for cultivation and began selling her produce locally within a month, generating a significant income of Rs. 10,000.

She enthusiastically shares, "Before the training, I was occupied with caring for my baby. Now, I manage my time efficiently, balancing household chores, childcare, and mushroom cultivation. Today, I cultivate oyster mushrooms, which thrive in my locality's favorable weather and have a high demand in the market."

Her newfound financial independence brings joy and empowerment to Doli's life, enabling her to purchase essential household items and contribute to her family's expenses. Grateful for her husband's support and Don Bosco Tech's opportunity, Doli acknowledges the transformative impact of the training. "The training has changed my life, offering prospects for earning and living a better lifestyle," she reflects.

Looking forward, Doli plans to expand her mushroom cultivation and secure her child's future by saving a portion of her earnings in a fixed deposit account. Through her perseverance and newfound skills, she not only enhances her family's financial stability but also inspires her community, demonstrating that with determination and opportunities, one can overcome challenges and achieve independence.
