Rosario Dkhar is currently working as a Customer Service Agent (CSA) for Air India (AI) SATS, Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru with a monthly salary of Rs. 15,000/- per month. He has been working in this organization since January 22, 2020, after completion of three months of training in Airline Customer Service Executive at Don Bosco Skill Mission (DBSM), Bangalore, and 11 days on the job training (OJT) at the city’s airport.

At a time when youths are reeling under the pressure of being unemployed and finding it difficult to build a career for themselves, the Meghalaya State Skills Development Society (MSSDS) in collaboration with Don Bosco Tech Society has taken the initiative to train in various job roles and give them handholding towards placement. This success story is one such youth who despite a brilliant academic record found it stiff to get a job before joining Don Bosco Tech Society’s free skill training program.

Rosario Dkhar was born on October 20, 1995, at Jowai, Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. He belongs to a nine-member family; parents, five brothers, and one sister. If Rosario is lucky, it’s because of his god-fearing parents who always supported him spiritually, financially, and emotionally. He completed his matriculation from St. Paul’s Seminary, Upper Shillong, and HSLC from St. Micheal’s Higher Secondary School, Umsning. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, and went ahead to pursue PGDCA from Martin Luther Christian University, Nongrah, Shillong. After completion of his studies, Rosario realized, it was high time for him to look out for a decent job to be financially independent. He thought, in vain, he could get a job easily owing to his brilliant academic background. He had to go from pillar to post, seeking for a job but was not satisfied either with the salary package or the job profile. Sooner than late he realized that he lacked adequate employable skills. Hence, he decided, either to upskill himself or accept the job offer, come what may.

One fine day, when he heard about the Job Fair being organized by Don Bosco Tech Society on June 15, 2019, at Don Bosco Hall, Laitumkhrah, he gave it a try. And the magic worked. This was where he got the information about the free training programs with job placements. He was quite inclined towards Hospitality. And so, he registered himself for the training in Aviation. Rosario and all those who had registered during the job fair were called to the center for the screening test and he came out with flying colors for the training under the SHCDM_Airline Customer Service Executive_B5_DBSM_Bengaluru. On September 16, 2019, he and his friends left for Bangalore from Shillong to be trained at Don Bosco Skill Mission (DBSM), Bengaluru. During the three-month-training, he was lucky to have such caliber faculty members who could train in Customer Service Operations, Basics of Computer, and Life skills. Training in additional subjects gives Don Bosco Tech trainees an edge over others and this was seen from Rosario’s success as a customer service agent in AI SATS, Bengaluru.

“With immense gratitude, I would like to express my sincere thanks and acknowledgment to all the staff both teaching and non-teaching of Don Bosco Skill Mission (DBSM), Don Bosco Tech Society, Speedwings, and the MSSDS for taking up the initiative of providing such a valuable and life-transforming training program. Honestly, I never dreamt of getting the opportunity to start my career in the airline sector but thanks for the opportunity. I am now working with Air India SATS along with some of my fellow trainees. Getting a job in airlines is never easy. Most of the best aviation academy in India has never achieved a 100% placement record even with the best infrastructure and hefty training fees. However, this free training program and short leaped ahead of many prestigious training institutions. This training program has not only given me skills to work but also taught me lessons for life,” said Rosario Dkhar.
