A 24-year-old girl, Ms. Riza Giri came to Don Bosco Tech, Siliguri center with a big dream, and hope high. From her childhood, she had a plan to make a career in the Hospitality sector. However, she did not know how to and from where to begin it. Before she joined for the training, she was in a desperate state looking for a decent job, with a mere qualification of +2. It is imperative for anyone to feel hopeless after the death of the bread owner of the family. She, being the eldest among the siblings, had to take a bigger responsibility of looking after her mother, a housewife, and her younger brother and sister. This responsibility changed her entire outlook towards life and taught her not to take anything for granted. Her challenges and hard work turned into a blessing as she never gave up on her dreams and the motivation to keep her family united. All she wanted was a good life for her mother and didn’t want her siblings to feel the emptiness of a father figure in the house.
Coming to Don Bosco Tech, was like a dream come true where all her inhibitions were dispelled. It is said, ‘Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.’ Likewise, she chose to materialize the opportunities given at the training center. It was very well seen in her attitude when she never uttered a word ‘no’ when it came to performing an activity in and out of the classroom. Being an extrovert, gifted nature, she was expressive and confident. Not just that she was a laborious at the same time a studious girl.
She is employed with the Milestone Hotel & Banquet, Siliguri, managed by Voyage Hospitality. Her hard work, dedication, and gifted with good interpersonal skills made her the ‘Employee of the month for February 2021.’ Working as a Guest Service Associate in Food and Beverage department, she is content with her profession and dreams to soar as high as becoming the Manager of the department, in the days to come.
She is an epitome of success for those less privileged youth of the region said, “We will either find a way or make one.”
