As the saying goes, ‘Chances and opportunities are not about winning on a single strike but the consistency of dedication, devotion and never giving up attitude makes a winner in the long run.’

This is the mantra that helped Ms. Sukhmunia Oran overcome all the odds and get the reward for her spectacular service.

Sukhamunia completed her training from Don Bosco Tech Society, Latabari. She was selected by the Healthwin Homecare Nursing Services, Bangalore, and is earning a monthly salary of Rs 13,000.

Looking back on Ms. Sukhmunia Oraon’s past, she has a humble beginning in a place called Tulsipara Tea Garden located on the outskirts of Alipurduar, West Bengal state, near the Indo-Bhutan Border. Her father was a worker tea garden worker. Unfortunately, the Tea Garden was shut down. This forced hundreds of tea garden workers to work in Stone Quarries for their survival. Fate was not different for her father too. It was far too difficult for him to make both ends meet. Life seemed dreary when crippled with misery and challenge for Ms. Sukhmunia.

Ms. Sukhmunia came to know about the courses offered by Don Bosco Tech, Latabari, through the trainers who met her during mobilization. She immediately decided to take training as the General Duty Assistant (GDA) under the ABF project. Her sheer will to help her family motivated her to perform well during the training. She was able to grasp what has been taught in the class. Keeping aside family problems she was found to be very optimistic towards life. Learning became easier for her as her mind was set on taking up the inevitable challenges and to lift the family.

With interest in Healthcare and dedication, Ms. Sukhmunia was selected as a Patient Associate with one of the leading home nursing Organisations known as ‘Healthwin’ located in Bangalore. The new job came as a blessing in disguise for her which helped her immensely to showcase her qualities as a kind human being. Her dedication and kindness yielded great dividends. Her service exceeded the expectation of the organization with a cheque reward of Rs 51,000.

Her success story is extremely motivating. It demonstrates that neediness isn’t an obstruction to progress. We need to take it as a test and have confidence in ourselves. It’s all about being kind, persistent, and brave.
