Genesis

Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong (SBTS) was established un 1923 by Salesians of Don Bosco and registered under Societies Registration Act of 1860. The centre is affiliated with Ministry of Labour, NCVT, Govt. of India to provide vocational technical training in nine trades. DBTS aims to impart need base technical training for unemployed and underprivileged youth and to attain self-sufficiency through empowerment of marginalised youth.

Short term vocational training programs are of three months' duration, in which the students are given technical inputs prepared in consultation with industry experts and professionals. The course includes on-the-job training, assignments and field visits. Valuable life skills are also integrated into the curriculum through an interactive teaching process.
