It was February 22, 2020, when 15 trainees of ISMO B3, Accenture Phase-10 of Don Bosco Tech Society (Khorha Toli, Kokar) visited Orient Craft Limited, Unit J1, Ormanjhi, Ranchi. The learning tour time stretched from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
The visit cum exposure oriented program was held to show the trainees the roles and responsibilities of a Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) so that the trainees could have a preview of working in an industry and prepare themselves mentally to adapt to the working environment.
The trainees along with Ms. Priya Devi (Trainer, ISMO) were guided by the Line Supervisor Ms. Khushbu Kumari of Orient Craft Limited. She showed and explained all the processes of manufacturing to exports that take place in their garment industry. The trainees keenly observed various types of machines that are used in industries-Juki Machine, Cutting Machines, Button Attaching Machines, and Chain Machines, etc. These machines, they got to learn were all new to them.
They were enamored to have seen every activity was mechanized. Machines used to cut, stitch, join the pieces, pack and thus exported to country’s different locations and overseas too. Working on machines with an experience of several years enhanced their speed. This was very encouraging and they vouched to equip themselves with a piece of adequate knowledge. They observed the workers working so attentively, fast and with precision. Some trainees have heard them say ‘we want to work here’.
At the end of the visit, the trainees expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Don Bosco Tech for giving them this opportunity to visit the industry and gain experiential knowledge via observation. They were also thankful to the trainer Ms. Priya Devi for assisting them wholeheartedly.
