On the vibrant morning of March 10th, 2020, the Don Bosco Skill Development Centre in Mendal resonated with the zeal of a unique celebration - the Poshan Pakhwada (Nutritional Fortnight) rally. This event, seamlessly integrated with the Child and Development Service Scheme, marked the commencement of a fortnight-long endeavor from March 8th to March 22nd, dedicated to enhancing nutrition awareness and outcomes.
Amidst the gathering, Ms. Norimchi A Sangma, the dynamic Child and Development Protection Officer, initiated the proceedings with a compelling address. She shed light on the pressing nutritional challenges faced, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to uplift the nutritional status of children, expectant mothers, and nursing mothers across Meghalaya. Her words resonated, underscoring the imperative to combat prevalent issues such as stunting, undernourishment, anemia, and low birth weight.
With determination fueling their steps, participants embarked on a rally from the Don Bosco Skill Development Centre to the Gokol-1 Anganwadi Centre. The collective march was a symbol of unity in the pursuit of a healthier tomorrow. Block and District-level representatives, alongside dedicated ASHA workers, lent their fervor to the cause, amplifying the rally's impact.
At the culmination of the rally, the Anganwadi Centre served as a hub of rejuvenation, offering refreshments to all participants. This moment of reprieve fostered camaraderie and provided an opportunity for reflection on the significance of nutrition in shaping individual well-being and societal progress.
The Poshan Pakhwada rally transcended mere symbolism; it epitomized a community's resolve to prioritize nutrition and foster holistic development. As the echoes of the event lingered, it sparked a renewed commitment among attendees to champion the cause of nutrition with unwavering dedication and passion.
