11 Mar 2020
The General Duty Assistant (GDA) trainees of Don Bosco Tech Society (Nongstoin) visited St. Joseph’s Hospital (Nongstoin) on March 11, 2020. It was with the sole motive to gain some information and knowledge about the working culture of hospitals.
The students along with the trainers (Ms. Kristina Nongsap (Trainer, GDA) and Mr. George Bankit Lyngkhoi (Trainer, Communicative English) reached the aforementioned hospital at 2 pm where they met Ms. Irene (In-Charge, Staff Nurse). She warmly greeted the students and started giving orientation about the departments in the hospital which consists of 40 beds in all. She listed the departments: Out Patient Department (OPD), Emergency, Small dressing room, the pharmacy with cabin for three doctors. Ms. Irene also mentioned that there are also two general wards; Male and Female. The trainees also visited the pediatric ward, the Labor room, and the nursing station from where all the activities in the ward are monitored.
As the short tour to the hospital was over Ms. Irene advised the trainees to learn well while warned them saying working in the hospital is not an easy job which calls for the students’ spirit of patience along with perseverance. She wished them good luck for their future endeavors.
It was a great learning for the trainees as it provided them an insight into the working procedures across all departments. On the whole, the trainees had a good time and were indeed happy with the visit.
