Genesis

Tribal Research and Training Centre (TRTC) located in Guira, Chaibasa, Jharkhand is the fruit of the labour of Fr. Mathew Areeparampil S.J. He laid the foundation of future TRTC in the campus in 1981 and started MISEREOR funded Non-Formal education for cattle grazing children who were deprived of a formal education around the villages of Lupungutu. He devoted his time and energy in research on the tribal issues and worked tirelessly on building socio-cultural awareness among the Hos. Ever since its inception, TRTC has been carrying its mission in collaboration with Government and Non-government agencies.

Short term vocational training programs are of three months' duration, in which the students are given technical inputs prepared in consultation with industry experts and professionals. The course includes on-the-job training, assignments and field visits. Valuable life skills are also integrated into the curriculum through an interactive teaching process.
