Genesis

Sambalpur, the commercial capital of Western Odisha, serves as a key centre for education, business, and employment for the neighbouring districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Balangir, and Nuapada. However, many youth, especially from SC/ST and economically weaker communities, lacked access to skill training and employment opportunities, leading to migration to cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Raipur for low-skilled work. To address this challenge, Don Bosco Tech Society identified Sambalpur as a strategic location for a skill development centre. In 2011, with the support of JMJ Hospital, Sambalpur, the centre was established to provide market-oriented vocational training and employment opportunities to disadvantaged youth. Since its inception, the Sambalpur Centre has been successfully training and placing youth in various sectors, becoming a trusted skill development hub for Sambalpur and the surrounding districts.
