On 4 February, the DBTech Training Centre organized an enriching industrial visit for ten trainees of the Guest Service Associate (Food & Beverage) course to Hempi Hotel in Birla, Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Assam. The visit was conducted under the guidance of Centre In-charge Sr. Sheeja and Sr. Sipsa, and accompanied by Assistant Domain Trainer Sir Dilip Kerketta and Domain Trainer Sir Uma Kanta Changmai.

The visit was designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world hospitality operations, offering trainees a firsthand experience of professional hotel management. From the moment they stepped into the hotel premises, the trainees were immersed in the dynamic environment of the hospitality industry, where service, precision, and guest satisfaction form the foundation of success.

The highlight of the visit was an interactive session with the Hotel Manager, Mr. Ruptalin Timungpi, who provided an insightful overview of hotel operations. He elaborated on effective guest handling techniques, the importance of professional conduct, and the management practices that ensure smooth daily operations. His practical explanations allowed trainees to connect their theoretical knowledge with industry expectations, inspiring them to envision their future roles with greater clarity and confidence.

The trainees were also introduced to various room categories and pricing structures, helping them understand revenue management and service differentiation. In the Food and Beverage department, they observed standard table-setting procedures, learning the nuances of presentation, hygiene, and service etiquette that elevate guest experiences. The housekeeping team further demonstrated the bed-making process, emphasizing cleanliness standards, attention to detail, and the discipline required to maintain hospitality excellence.

What made the visit particularly impactful was the openness and encouragement extended by the hotel staff. The trainees were not mere observers; they were active learners, asking questions, engaging in discussions, and absorbing practical wisdom from experienced professionals. The exposure helped them appreciate the teamwork and coordination required across departments to deliver seamless service.

The visit concluded with a warm tea session, fostering informal interaction and reflection. On behalf of the trainees and the centre, Ms. Lucia Teronpi delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks to the manager and hotel staff for their generous cooperation and guidance.

This industrial visit was more than an educational excursion; it was a transformative learning experience. It strengthened the trainees’ understanding of hospitality operations, enhanced their professional outlook, and ignited a deeper passion for service excellence. Such initiatives by Don Bosco Tech Society continue to shape skilled, confident, and industry-ready professionals, making a meaningful difference in the lives of young aspirants and the communities they serve.
