On 03 September 2025, Don Bosco Arts and Science College, in collaboration with Don Bosco Tech Society, came alive with vibrant colors, tradition, and cultural pride as it hosted a grand Onam Celebration. The event was organized to honor Kerala’s rich cultural heritage while fostering unity, inclusivity, and a sense of togetherness among students.

The celebration began with a warm welcome, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing positivity, knowledge, and the spirit of new beginnings. This ceremonial start set the tone for an event that beautifully blended tradition with youthful enthusiasm. Students gathered in festive attire, creating an atmosphere that reflected the true essence of Onam.

The cultural segment of the program was a captivating showcase of talent and heritage. The graceful Thiruvathira dance stood out as a highlight, mesmerizing the audience with its rhythm and elegance. Alongside this, students presented melodious songs and thoughtful speeches that reflected the significance of Onam as a festival of prosperity, gratitude, and unity. Each performance added depth and meaning, connecting participants to the cultural roots of the celebration.

One of the most engaging aspects of the event was the Pookalam competition, where students collaborated to create intricate floral designs. These vibrant patterns not only displayed artistic creativity but also symbolized harmony and teamwork. Traditional games further added excitement to the celebration, encouraging active participation and bringing joy and laughter to the gathering.

The event created a space where culture was not just observed but experienced. It encouraged students from diverse backgrounds to come together, appreciate traditions, and celebrate unity in diversity. The enthusiasm and involvement of participants reflected a strong sense of belonging and collective spirit.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and the distribution of mementos, acknowledging the efforts of all contributors and participants. The Onam Celebration was more than a festive occasion; it was a meaningful experience that strengthened cultural awareness, teamwork, and mutual respect.
