06 Mar 2020
On March 6, 2020, amidst the spirited aura of International Women’s Day, Don Bosco Tech orchestrated a stirring event at their Najafgarh center, igniting a blaze of empowerment and camaraderie. Gathered under one roof were over 100 students, eagerly awaiting a celebration that would resonate with the essence of gender equality and female empowerment.
The distinguished guests, including Sr. Prabha, Sr. Veronica, Fr. Puneet (Principal of Don Bosco Yuva Kendra), Mr. Naveen (from NULM), and Mr. Vinay Khalko, were welcomed with heartfelt warmth by Mrs. Pooja and Miss Neetu, who presented them with symbolic flower pots, signifying growth and nurturing.
Fr. Puneet set the tone with a poignant anecdote, underscoring the intrinsic value and capability of women in every facet of life. His words echoed the sentiment of the day, emphasizing the indomitable power inherent in every woman. The students, in turn, showcased their creativity through a compelling act, shedding light on the societal pressures faced by girls, particularly regarding issues like female infanticide.
The event gained further momentum as Mr. Naveen and the Sisters shared their insightful perspectives, inspiring the students with their wisdom and encouragement. As the program drew to a close, Mr. Nitesh (Center Head) extended heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, marking the end of an enriching session.
However, the spirit of the day extended beyond the confines of the center, as participants ventured out into the community. Split into two groups, they embarked on meaningful visits to spread joy and solidarity. One group, led by Mr. Abhishek, Miss Neetu, and Mr. Manish, brought smiles to the faces of orphaned children at the Sweet Home and Health Center in Najafgarh, sharing treats, capturing cherished moments, and forging bonds of companionship.
Meanwhile, the second group, led by Mr. Naseer Bhat, Mr. Naijan J., Mrs. Pooja, and Mr. Sumit, extended their appreciation to the unsung heroes at Najafgarh Police Headquarters and Vikash Hospital. Honoring the dedicated female staff with thoughtful gestures and flower pots, the students illuminated the tireless efforts of those working tirelessly for the betterment of society.
As the sun set on this memorable day, hearts were filled with gratitude, and spirits soared with the knowledge that each small act of kindness and recognition had contributed to the collective tapestry of empowerment and unity. Indeed, March 6, 2020, marked not just a celebration but a testament to the enduring spirit of International Women’s Day, resonating with newfound insights and a renewed commitment to championing gender equality.
