Genesis
Jharsuguda is one of the rapidly developing industrial hubs of Western Odisha, offering significant opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing, power, and allied industries. However, despite this growth, many youths—especially those from underprivileged and marginalized communities—continue to face challenges in accessing quality education, skill training, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
To address this gap, Don Bosco Tech Society has collaborated with St. Mary's Community College (Sevalaya), an institution established in 2006 and run by the Congregation of the Handmaids of Mary, Snehadeepti Province Jharsuguda. The college has been actively engaged in community development and education, particularly for underserved populations.
The training centre is located at Cox Colony Industrial Estate, a strategically accessible area that connects nearby communities with industrial zones. This collaboration combines the expertise of Don Bosco Tech in skill development with the strong grassroots presence and social commitment of St. Mary’s Community College.
Through this partnership, both institutions aim to empower underprivileged youth by providing industry-relevant skill training, enhancing employability, and enabling access to sustainable livelihoods. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between local industry demands and the availability of skilled manpower, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
With a shared vision, the centre is poised to create meaningful opportunities for youth in and around Jharsuguda, fostering a skilled, confident, and self-reliant generation.
