Eliminating paper clutter at the workplace
24 Oct 2019
Every green initiative should begin at the individual level. Before we educate others on cleaning our surroundings, not wasting paper or avoiding/reducing the use of plastics, we must do it ourselves and be an example. On the occasion of Diwali, the Green Team decided to organize an event named "Declutter and Organize” fromOctober 23 to October 24, 2019. The objectives of this event were as follows;
- To create a culture of cleanliness and organized workstations.
- To reduce the wastage of paper.
- To reduce and slowly remove the use of one time plastic in office.
Declutter means removing unnecessary items and in the said days the employees were encouraged to clean their workstations and organize it. The cleaning involved removing waste papers, plastic items and other waste and reusable items. Since Don Bosco Tech had committed to reducing the usage of paper, the Green Team gave stress on this issue and asked the employees to sort and deposit used, partially used and unused papers. The team kept two boxes for collecting such papers. Recycling the waste and saving the paper was the main purpose. The usable papers will be reused for printing or making notes or for some other purpose and the used papers will be given for recycling.
All the employees co-operated and fully participated in the activity. Everybody tried their best to keep their place clean and also started using the reusable papers and some have reduced the printing of papers.
The green team inspected the workstations and selected two employees, Mr. Sudhir Tirkey and Mr. Sunil Dewangan for their active participation and keeping their workstations better than before. This activity helped all the employees to realize the importance of cleanliness, reducing paper wastage, reducing one-time plastic usage and reusing the waste items.
