On October 8th, 2022, the CSA Department orchestrated an illuminating Guest Lecture centered on "Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Investigation." The session, led by Mr. Vipul Mahajan from the IT Cell, delved into the paramount importance of data, igniting discussions about its pivotal role in shaping the future, with Mr. Vipul boldly asserting, "The Next World War will be fought over Cyber Data." During the lecture, Mr. Vipul elucidated on various facets of Cyber Stalking, Extortion, Spoofing, Cyber Crimes, and Cyber Forensics, weaving in compelling crime investigation case studies. He navigated through the intricacies of Privacy Policies governing freely available applications, shedding light on safeguarding strategies like Disposable Email Accounts, crucial in our data-driven age.
Moreover, Mr. Vipul's expertise extended to demonstrating the robust security protocols essential for online transactions, IoT, and financial dealings, illustrating how interconnected smart components in smart cities necessitate vigilant data protection measures. Engaged and inquisitive, the students actively participated, probing into topics like cyberbullying and harassment. Mr. Vipul not only addressed their queries but also empowered them with knowledge on where and how to report such threats and frauds.
As the session drew to a close, the Centre Coordinator, Sunakshi Balgotra, conveyed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Vipul for enlightening the students about the vast scope of projects in Cyber Security and the critical challenges facing the cyber realm.
