Don Bosco Tech, Manikandam witnessed a vibrant blend of tradition, celebration, and new beginnings on 13 January 2026 with the inauguration of Web Developer Batch B5 (250562) alongside the celebration of the harvest festival Pongal. The event brought together students, trainers, and staff in a meaningful gathering that marked both the launch of a new learning journey and the celebration of Tamil culture and gratitude for nature’s abundance.
The program commenced at 8:45 AM with a Pongal address and blessings delivered by Rev. Fr. Clan SDB. In his thoughtful message, he reflected on the cultural and spiritual significance of Pongal, emphasizing the values of gratitude, unity, and respect for the agricultural community whose hard work sustains society. His words set a reflective and inspiring tone for the day, reminding students of the importance of staying connected to tradition while pursuing modern opportunities.
At 9:00 AM, the formal inauguration of Web Developer Batch B5 was conducted by Ms. Evangeline Sofiya SDB, Web Developer Trainer. In her address, she spoke about the growing importance of digital skills in the modern world and highlighted the vast opportunities within the field of web development. She encouraged students to embrace learning with curiosity and dedication, reminding them that strong technical skills combined with discipline and creativity can open doors to promising careers in the IT industry.
Following the inauguration, the atmosphere transitioned into a lively Pongal celebration. Traditional Pongal was prepared by the Pongal team, symbolizing prosperity and gratitude. Students enthusiastically gathered to witness the preparation and participate in the celebrations, creating an atmosphere filled with joy, laughter, and cultural pride.
To further engage participants, a series of games and cultural activities were organized for both students and staff. These included the Lemon and Spoon Competition, the Water Filling Game, the Lucky City Game, and the Tug of War, where participants were divided into four energetic teams. One of the most exciting highlights of the celebration was the Uri Adi competition, which captured the attention of everyone present and filled the venue with cheers and excitement. These activities encouraged teamwork, healthy competition, and strengthened the bond among students and trainers.
At 12:45 PM, kits were distributed to the students as part of the program. This was followed by the sharing of Pongal, symbolizing unity, generosity, and community spirit. The simple act of sharing food reflected the true essence of the festival and brought everyone together in celebration.
The program concluded at 1:00 PM with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. S. Praveen Jerry Mon, Center Coordinator. He expressed his sincere appreciation to Allaihal Media House, the Rev. Fathers, trainers, staff members, students, and the organizing team whose dedication and teamwork ensured the success of the event.
