On October 21, 2020, the First Placement Orientation was conducted via ZOOM, beginning at 11 am and concluding at 12:30 pm. The session saw active participation from 18 attendees, including the Placement Coordinator Anita Kapuh, trainers Prasanta Neog and Prem Sagar from the Golaghat centre, and 15 eager trainees.

The orientation kicked off with an engaging introduction to the Don Bosco Tech Society, setting the stage for a journey into the world of vocational training. The purpose of the training was elucidated, highlighting the transformative potential it holds for the trainees. Emphasis was placed on the importance of regular attendance in both domain-specific and soft skill classes, underscoring that consistent participation is key to gaining proficiency.

Grooming standards were discussed, reinforcing the need for professionalism in appearance, which is crucial for making positive first impressions during interviews. The session also stressed the importance of proper documentation, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is in order for the placement process.

Communication skills, particularly basic Hindi and English, were identified as vital for successful interviews. Trainees were encouraged to cultivate a right attitude towards work, integrating both hard and soft skills to enhance employability. The trainers provided insights into the realities of entry-level jobs, including the expectation of a minimum salary and the opportunity for on-the-job training.

Facing challenges was another critical topic, with practical advice on overcoming obstacles and adapting to new environments. It was highlighted that job placements would likely be outside the trainees' home states and towns, prompting them to embrace the idea of relocation.

The session concluded with a motivational message on the importance of learning a skill to become self-dependent. Trainees were urged to practice safety measures diligently and adapt to living in the current pandemic era.

Overall, the First Placement Orientation was not just an information session but an enlightening experience, preparing trainees to navigate their career paths with confidence and resilience.
