On July 18, 2024, Don Bosco Technical School hosted an enlightening and dynamic awareness session on HIV, AIDS, and drug abuse, sponsored by the Meghalaya Aids Control Society, Shillong. The event featured two distinguished resource persons: Ms. Yasmine Dohling, an experienced counsellor, and Banisa Lamare, a proficient lab technician, who captivated the audience with their in-depth presentations on these critical issues.
Ms. Dohling and Ms. Lamare delivered invaluable insights aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge to navigate these pressing health challenges. They underscored the importance of recognizing the symptoms of HIV, AIDS, and drug-related illnesses, emphasizing the necessity of prompt medical attention. Their presentations dispelled common misconceptions that often deter young people from seeking help, encouraging proactive health management.
Ms. Dohling's poignant discussion on the negative impact of drug use and related diseases on youth resonated deeply with the attendees. She highlighted the dangers of peer pressure and misinformation, advocating for the significance of a supportive and positive peer group in making healthy life choices.
