The Orientation Program for Housekeeping Trainee Batch 3 unfolded on October 22, 2024, at the serene campus of the Nirmali Society of Christ Jesus, Mawkasiang, Shillong. The event marked a fresh beginning for 19 eager students, ready to embark on a journey that promises not just skill development but also personal growth and professional discipline. Gracing the occasion with their presence were Sister Remo Magdalene and Sister Cecilia D. Sangma, two guiding figures whose wisdom set an inspiring tone for the day. Miss Zareen Hynniewta, one of the trainees, took on the role of host, engaging the audience with a warm welcome and setting the atmosphere with a musical performance by Batch 3 trainees, capturing the spirit of unity and new beginnings.

In her opening remarks, Zareen emphasized the critical role of housekeeping, explaining how it ensures not only cleanliness but also enhances operational efficiency and guest satisfaction—two pillars of excellence in the hospitality industry. This introduction laid the foundation for what would be an insightful day of reflections and guidance.

Sister Cecilia’s speech followed, offering the students invaluable lessons on discipline, behavior, and the importance of stepping beyond their comfort zones. She challenged the trainees to embrace opportunities outside their familiar environments, urging them to explore jobs beyond the borders of their home state to gain broader perspectives and deeper experience. With a tone of encouragement, she reminded the students that growth often requires bold steps into the unfamiliar, concluding with her heartfelt wishes for their future success.

Next, Sister Remo Magdalene shared her personal connection to the earlier batches, noting with pride that the first batch had already secured employment while the second awaited interview opportunities. She invited the new trainees to nurture gratitude and appreciate the unique environment they had entered, where love, care, and mentorship would shape their journey. She also reminded them that learning is not just an obligation but a gift—an opportunity given by God that must be embraced with sincerity and hard work. Sister Remo stressed the importance of collaboration with teachers and sisters, recognizing the fleeting nature of the time they would share. She ended her address with blessings for both students and instructors, setting a tone of hope and encouragement for the days ahead.

The highlight of the program was the distribution of books and bags to each trainee, a gesture symbolizing the beginning of their learning adventure. The thoughtful gifts were presented by Sister Remo, Sister Cecilia, Miss Dawiat Rynjah, and Miss Larimonsngewbha Wanniang, reinforcing the message that every student is valued and supported.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Banjoplang Mylliem Umlong, followed by a session of refreshments and a memorable group photograph, capturing the spirit of camaraderie and new beginnings. The orientation not only equipped the students with practical advice but also ignited a sense of purpose and excitement, leaving them inspired to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
