International Women's Day Celebration

On 8th March 2021, Don Bosco Tech Latabari joined the global celebration of International Women’s Day with a thoughtful and engaging event. The day was not just about commemorating women, but about challenging stereotypes and reshaping perceptions of female strength.
The celebration commenced with a series of skits prepared by the trainees, particularly focusing on themes like women’s safety, girl child education, and breaking stereotypes. Notably, male trainees also actively participated, shedding light on issues like domestic violence behind closed doors.
Mrs. Malati Baxla, President of Women’s Development for Kalchini block and former President of Women’s Development for Alipurduar district, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The entire campus, including women staff members, was invited to partake in the festivities.
The event commenced with Ms. Poonam Rana, GDA trainer, delivering an opening note on the significance of International Women’s Day, emphasizing the need for such celebrations. Ms. Raksha extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and other dignitaries present.
Throughout the event, various facets of society were brought to light through songs and skits. Issues such as domestic violence, eve teasing, workplace harassment, the importance of girl child education, gender stereotyping, and bias were vividly portrayed. Mrs. Malati Baxla shared her experiences, underlining the imperative of empowering women and highlighting the profound impact of female education on societal progress.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ashish Kujur, who encapsulated the essence of the event and expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers. The celebration not only honored women but also sparked important conversations and reflections on gender equality and empowerment.
