Orientation and Parent's Meeting of Batch 2
02 Jun 2026
An orientation programme was conducted on 2 June 2026 for students and parents enrolled in the hospitality training programme.
The programme began with a speech by Miss Geraldine, who highlighted how the training would equip students with the skills and knowledge required to secure employment in the hospitality industry. She encouraged students to make the most of the opportunity and remain committed throughout the course.
A speech was also delivered by Father, who warmly welcomed the parents and students. He explained the objectives of BIDS and emphasized the importance of cooperation between students, trainers, and parents to ensure successful learning outcomes. He stressed that teamwork and mutual support would contribute significantly to the students' growth and future careers.
The programme also included the distribution of books and uniforms to the students. The items were distributed by Miss Rhiedolcy, Miss Geraldine, and Sir Kynpham.
Miss Rhiedolcy provided an overview of the free government-sponsored training programme. She explained that the initiative is designed to equip young people with industry-relevant skills and improve their employability in the hospitality sector. She highlighted that students who complete the training can secure jobs in the same hotels and establishments where students from IHM are employed. Encouraging the students to take the opportunity seriously, she emphasized the importance of stepping out of their comfort zones, making productive use of their time, and preparing themselves for the professional world. She also stressed the need for good personal grooming and a well-presented resume, as these play a crucial role in creating a positive impression on employers. Acknowledging that there would be challenges along the way, she urged parents to support and motivate their children throughout the training journey to help them achieve success and secure employment.
A parent of one of the students shared her experience and expressed gratitude for the training programme. She explained that, coming from a financially disadvantaged background, opportunities like this are very valuable for families like hers. She stated that the free training has given her child a chance to gain professional skills and secure employment without placing a financial burden on the family. She thanked the organizers and the government for providing such an opportunity and assured her full support for her child's participation in the programme. Her testimony highlighted how the training can positively impact the lives of students from economically weaker sections and help them build a better future.
