Certification Programme of Bids and Mawkasiang
29 Jul 2026
Don Bosco Tech Society organised a Certification Day Celebration at the Bosco Integrated Development Society (BIDS) Hall on 29 July 2026 to honour students from the BIDS Centre and Mawkasiang Centre who successfully completed Housekeeping Hospitality training and secured placements in reputed five-star hotels across India. The programme celebrated the achievements of the trainees and recognised their successful transition into employment. The training programme was implemented by Don Bosco Tech Society with financial support from the Meghalaya State Skills Development Society (MSSDS), the funding agency.
The event celebrated the achievements of the trainees and recognised their dedication, perseverance, and successful transition into the hospitality industry. Around 55 parents attended the programme to receive certificates on behalf of their children, many of whom have already begun their professional careers in different parts of the country. The ceremony also acknowledged the vital role of families in supporting the students throughout their training journey.
The programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Fr. James, who encouraged the students to continue developing their skills as a pathway to sustainable employment and personal growth. He also spoke about the successful partnership between Bosco Integrated Development Society and Don Bosco Tech Society, noting that their collaboration has enabled many young people to access quality training and meaningful career opportunities.
Delivering the keynote address, Chief Guest Mr. Digvijoy Sinha of the Meghalaya State Skills Development Society (MSSDS) congratulated the students on their achievements and commended Don Bosco Tech Society for its contribution to youth skill development and employment. He observed that many young people from the North East are often hesitant to leave their comfort zones in pursuit of better career opportunities. Encouraging the graduates to embrace new experiences, he assured them of MSSDS's continued support in strengthening coordination between training and placement teams. Speaking at a skill development programme for the first time, he also highlighted the growing demand for skilled manpower in Meghalaya and emphasised the crucial role of vocational training in improving youth employability.
Sharing words of encouragement, Sr. Ramo thanked the organisers for inviting her to the celebration. Through a story about a man who sought an easier life by becoming a monk but still encountered hardships, she reminded the audience that challenges are inevitable in every journey and urged the students to remain determined and never lose hope.
A moving highlight of the programme was the screening of video testimonials featuring graduates currently employed in hotels across India. The students shared how Don Bosco Tech Society's training had transformed their lives by building their confidence, enhancing their professional skills, and helping them realise their career aspirations. Many also expressed sincere gratitude to MSSDS for sponsoring their training, explaining that the support eased their financial burden and opened the door to stable employment. The inspiring stories deeply resonated with the audience, especially the parents and aspiring trainees.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, students from the Shillong Centre (22 students) and the BIDS Centre (27 students) presented a special group song, showcasing their unity and gratitude.
The certificate presentation ceremony was led by Mr. Digvijoy Sinha, Mr. Donbok (MSSDS Communications), Ms. Rhiedolcy (Placement Coordinator), Mr. Kynpham (Meghalaya MIS), Fr. James, and Sr. Ramo, who presented certificates to the parents of the successfully placed candidates.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Rhiedolcy, Placement Coordinator, who expressed appreciation to the chief guest, dignitaries, parents, trainers, MSSDS, and all stakeholders for their continued support in empowering youth through skill development and employment initiatives.
Following the formal programme and refreshments, a parent's meet session was conducted for the parents of students who are yet to join their placements. The session provided information on job roles, workplace responsibilities, employer expectations, and the support systems available to help students transition smoothly into their new careers.
