Report on 'Fire-less Cooking Event' by Hospitality Trainees at DB Best Academy

Trainees of DB BEST Academy (DB Tech Lingarajapuram, Bangalore) organised food festival on October 16, 2019 to exhibit their culinary skills. The theme for the talent event was ‘Cooking without Fire’ under the guidance of Mr. Mario (Hospitality Trainer).
Trainees participated with full zeal and enthusiasm as they doled out nutritious yet delectable delicacies selected post exhaustive research on the cultural backgrounds of the relevant recipes. Artefacts and food items displayed were a visual treat and were presented in an artistic and aesthetic style.
Fr. Rubin Mathew (Regional Coordinator Don Bosco Tech) inaugurated the event. Mr. Henry (State Placement Coordinator), Ms. Nitya Rebello (MIS Coordinator), Mr. Kennady (Centre Coordinator), Staff of DB BEST Academy and other domain trainees participated in the event.
The aim of the activity was to provide a platform for trainees to showcase their talent and explore new areas of interest. The event was conducted with a view to create awareness about the nutritional value of food cooked without flame, to know to prepare, present and serve food items, to avoid fear for interacting with customers.
The trainees were divided into 10 groups of three or four members. They prepared dishes like peanut butter chocolate cake, varieties of milkshake, coconut laddu, peanut chat, Choco lava cake, fruit salad with yoghurt, pineapple sandwich, Oreo milkshake, lemon rocky mock tail, triple layer sandwich, veg burger, pani poori and brownie bread with ice cream. They served the dishes in an artistic and aesthetic way which was most appealing and the display was a visual treat tickling to the taste buds.
Through this activity the trainees learnt the spirit of teamwork, presentation style, culinary skills, appreciating the hard work put into cooking.
