International Women's Day Celebration at Lingarajpuram"

Don Bosco Tech Society (Lingarajapuram, Bangalore) hosted the 21st International Women's Day (IWD). This commemorative event was held on March 10, 2020, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Fr. Joy Nedumparambil (Director, BREADS, Bangalore) Fr. Rubin Mathew (Director, Don Bosco Tech-Lingarajapuram) were cordially invited to grace the occasion. The trainees and staff participated with glee in the program. Mr. Mario Gerontius (Trainer, Food and Beverages) welcomed the guests, staff members, and the trainees.
Fr. Joy, who was the chief guest of the event, said in his message that ‘the women are the life-giver of the entire human race and it is everyone's responsibility to give her a status and respect in society’. He advised women to empower themselves without waiting for any external agency to help them. Mr. Johnny (Trainee, Sales Associates) showed a video entitled "SHE", the story of women.
Ms. Lesilen Jose (Trainer, Sales Associate), said, “Women's thought process must undergo a sea of change,” added “Every woman should respect the other woman. Whenever women's rights are breached, the law must protect.” As she continued to deliver the speech she cited several laws framed to protect women.
Ms. Netra and Ms. Yamuna (Alumni, Sales Associates) shared their training and work-place experiences, becoming the perfect example of successful women.
Fr. Rubin Mathew felicitated the female trainee said, “You should have a balance between career and family. A woman can't achieve her success without family support.” The milestone, he added, “To achieve is the education.”
The program was in progress with some fun-filled games conducted by Mr. Shiva and Mr. Johnny (Trainee, Sales Associate) facilitating to showcase their skills. Ms. Parvathi and Mr. Sanjay (Trainee, Sales Associate), Ms. Asha, Mr. Vijay and Mr. Solai Raj (Trainee, Food and Beverages) came forward to entertain with some cultural programs such as dance, song, and presentations to make the day a memorable one.
Every speaker hailed the socio, economic, cultural and political achievements of women over the past three decades and said that this day is a reminder of their die-heart effort to see gender equality being materialized. The program drew its curtain with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Nitha Rebello (State MIS & Finance Coordinator, Karnataka).
