Cyber Security Awareness Session at Don Bosco Tech Vaduthala
13 Nov 2025
A Cyber Security Awareness Session was held at Don Bosco Tech Vaduthala on 13 November 2025, offering students a compelling and eye-opening introduction to the realities of digital safety in today’s interconnected world. The session was led by Mahadev, an expert from the Cyber Cell, Kochi, whose engaging approach and real-life insights left a lasting impact on learners from both the AI Data Quality Analyst and Cloud Application Developer programs.
Right from the outset, Mahadev underscored the urgent need for cyber awareness among the youth. In an age where technology influences every aspect of life—from academics and communication to career opportunities—young people remain among the most active users of digital platforms. This, he pointed out, also makes them primary targets for cybercriminals who exploit gaps in awareness and caution.
Through vivid examples and relatable scenarios, the session explored a wide range of online threats such as phishing scams, identity theft, job-related frauds, financial deceptions, and social media impersonation. Mahadev shed light on the subtle yet sophisticated methods used by scammers, including psychological manipulation and carefully crafted digital traps designed to win trust and mislead unsuspecting users.
A significant highlight of the session was its focus on practical prevention strategies. Students were guided on how to secure their personal data, identify suspicious online behaviour, create and manage strong passwords, activate two-factor authentication, and stay vigilant while navigating unfamiliar websites or messages. Mahadev also reinforced the importance of timely reporting, emphasizing that quick action can prevent further harm and help authorities track cyber offenders.
The interactive nature of the event encouraged students to ask questions, clarify doubts, and share personal experiences, transforming the session into a lively dialogue rather than a one-way lecture. This dynamic atmosphere not only enriched the learning experience but also fostered a deeper understanding of the responsibilities that come with digital engagement.
The Cyber Security Awareness Session proved to be a valuable and thought-provoking initiative, equipping students with essential skills to protect themselves in an evolving digital landscape. It stands as a testament to Don Bosco Tech Society’s commitment to preparing its learners to navigate the online world confidently, responsibly, and safely.
