The Orientation-cum-Parents' Meet for the Housekeeping Training Programme (Batch I) was successfully conducted on 7th August 2026 at the DB Tech Society, Mawkasiang Centre. The programme was organized to formally welcome the newly enrolled trainees and their parents, introduce them to the objectives and structure of the training programme, and build confidence among families regarding the opportunities and support provided through the initiative.

The programme was graced by the presence of Ms. Parksiar Nongrum, Project Associate Eat Khasi Hills, Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), Sister M. Remo, Centre Head, Mr. Kynpham Shadap, State Executive (MIS), Ms. Geraldine Bang, Career Advisor, Mr. Reuben Hnamte, Domain Trainer, Mr. Raymond Sutnga, Communicative English Trainer, along with the parents and students of the new batch.

The programme commenced with a warm and gracious Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Merida Khynriam, a student of the centre, who welcomed all the distinguished guests, parents, trainers, and fellow students. This was followed by an Opening Prayer led by Sister M. Remo, seeking God's blessings for the success of the programme and for the journey that the trainees were about to undertake.

Following the prayer, Sister M. Remo addressed the gathering. In her inspiring message, she emphasized the importance of taking the training seriously, highlighting the current scarcity of employment opportunities within the state. She encouraged the students to view this programme as a stepping stone towards a brighter future and urged them to remain disciplined, committed, and willing to learn. Addressing the parents, she appealed to them to support and encourage their children to step outside the state in pursuit of meaningful employment and personal growth. She reminded everyone that faith should remain an integral part of their journey, encouraging the trainees to place their trust in God while striving for excellence in their careers.

The programme then continued with a beautiful Opening Song presented by Ms. Iaibatmi Shadap and Ms. Ibapynhun Mynsong, whose melodious performance created a joyful and uplifting atmosphere. This was followed by an energetic and graceful Group Dance performed by a group of female students, adding colour, enthusiasm, and celebration to the occasion.

A significant highlight of the programme was the ceremonial distribution of books and uniforms to the newly enrolled trainees. The books and uniforms were handed over by the esteemed guests as a symbolic gesture marking the official commencement of the Housekeeping Training Programme. The ceremony served as a meaningful reminder of the students' commitment to learning, discipline, and professional development.

The Chief Guest, Ms. Parksiar Nongrum, then delivered an informative and motivating address. She provided an in-depth overview of the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), explaining its vision, objectives, and the various skill development initiatives undertaken to empower the youth of Meghalaya. She elaborated on how MSSDS-sponsored programmes equip young people with industry-relevant skills, job readiness, confidence, and life skills that enable them to become productive members of society. She encouraged the trainees to make full use of the opportunity provided, assuring them that dedication, perseverance, and a positive attitude would open doors to rewarding careers and brighter futures.

The formal programme concluded with a closing song presented by all the students, symbolizing unity, gratitude, and the beginning of their collective learning journey.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Kynpham Shadap, State Executive (MIS). In his remarks, he expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Centre Head, trainers, Career Advisor, parents, and students for making the programme a success. He emphasized that the success of any skill development programme depends on the collective efforts of the institution, trainers, students, and especially the parents. He encouraged the trainees to remain disciplined, punctual, and committed throughout the training while reminding parents that their continued encouragement and trust would play a vital role in shaping the future of their children. He concluded by wishing every trainee success in their journey towards employment and personal growth.

Following the inaugural programme, an interactive Parents' Meeting was conducted by the trainers together with Ms. Geraldine Bang, Career Advisor. During the session, parents were provided with a comprehensive explanation of the Housekeeping Training Programme, including its duration, curriculum, attendance requirements, practical training, assessments, interview preparation, and placement process. The Career Advisor also elaborated on the employment opportunities available after successful completion of the course and the support extended by the institution during placements. Parents were encouraged to raise their questions, concerns, and apprehensions regarding out-of-state employment, accommodation, safety, and the welfare of their children. The trainers patiently addressed every query and reassured parents of the centre's commitment to ensuring the safety, guidance, and well-being of every trainee throughout the training and placement process. The session fostered transparency, trust, and confidence between the institution and the parents.

The programme concluded on a warm and cheerful note with light refreshments, providing an opportunity for guests, parents, trainers, and students to interact informally. This was followed by group photographs, capturing memorable moments of the occasion and marking the successful beginning of the Housekeeping Training Programme for Batch I (2026–2027).

Overall, the Orientation-cum-Parents' Meet was a meaningful and successful event that strengthened the partnership between the training centre and the families of the trainees. It not only introduced the students to the expectations and opportunities of the programme but also instilled confidence among parents regarding the training, placement process, and future prospects. The programme set a positive and encouraging tone for the academic year ahead and marked the beginning of a promising journey towards skill development, employment, and personal transformation.
