The purpose of conducting a Field visit is to understand and experience the incoming supply and outgoing supply with the observation of Electrical Equipments and overall view of the sub-station and maintaining process. As a part of training, Don Bosco Tech Gagillapuram Telangana, organized a field visit on April 5, 2021, for Electrical Domestic Solution (EDS) trainees, with the help of Mr. Prahaladh, the operator in TSSPDCL 33/11KV OUTDOOR SUB-STATION, which is located at Gagillapuram village.

Mr. Sathish Assistant Engineer (AE) permitted trainees to enter into Sub- Station while motivating them to get knowledge practically. Mr. Prahallad showed and explained the maintenance and construction of the substation. He led trainees into the control system room and explained briefly about controlling methods through different switches with LED light indicators and alarm switches. He also demonstrated to trainees the backup controlling system of the Sub- Station. He explained how the device operates whenever there is a Power cut, any major problem occurs on electric devices like transformers, CT’S and PT’S, etc.. it provides the power supply to the station. He instructed us about taking safety measures while working with switch gears.

After that, we moved to the power transformers. The trainees got the knowledge that the incoming supply of power comes as 33KVA by using a step-down transformer that transmits the power into two power transformers; each transformer divides into three feeders of 11KV three-phase systems. So that the sub-station can provide six feeders. He explained the distribution of power like 33/11KV, 11KV/440V, and 440/230V. He also gave some practical guidance to the trainees about lightning arresters and Earthling, prepossess which are keeping Sub-Station. Apart from that Mr. Gangadhar(EDS Trainer) also delivered some important details to trainees.

At the end, we all felt satisfaction and success with our field visit. We have taken some photos with the Sub-Station staff.

Centre Management has expressed our gratitude to the AE. Sathish and Mr. Prahalladh for permitting trainees to visit the substation during this pandemic. We also asked them to continue this good association with our Don Bosco Tech.

Finally, we returned with a good learning experience and with joyful minds. Trainees were very happy about the exposure visit.
