The second guest lecturer session for Graphic Designer job role was successfully organized at Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur Center on “Album Designing and Photo Re-Touching” on August 22, 2022 for the trainees of batch - 1 of Accenture - 12. Mr. Avi Dutta, from ‘Avi Photo-Works’ was invited as the Guest Lecturer.
The guest lecture began with welcome address by the domain trainer Mr. Anjan Pattnaik. He introduced and welcomed Mr. Avi Dutta to deliver the lecture.
Mr. Dutta briefed the trainees on different aspects of photo editing. He expanded his session by explaining various parts of album designing such as photo retouching; Collage composing, Framing, Colour management. He encouraged the trainees by giving the advantages of being an Editor in today’s world, by explaining the production demand & market availability. He has given few tips on how to design a professional looking wedding album in record time and maximize its profits. To keep in mind during album design one should keep it simple, learn design basics, focus on the story, not embellishments, use the right tools, and deliver it fast. The first step in designing a photo album is deciding on the album maker and album design software. Do this before selecting images or creating spreads because each album maker and each design software has different procedures and limitations. So understanding these before one starts designing he added.
He explained the various methods of retouching which includes color correction or even change of color altogether—for example from full color to sepia or to black and white. It also includes correction of contrast, either adding or removing contrast. Clarity (crispness), saturation, and white balance are also can be adjusted. Careful attention to framing each image is also an important aspect of the process. Retouching services are important to your perfect album or magazine-style photo layout. Mr. Dutta has showed them function of some standard retouching tools like smooth out minor facial lines, remove minor skin blemishes or small scars, remove minor circles under eyes, brighten eyes, remove eyeglass glare, remove eyeglass shadows, stray hairs removed, whiten teeth, remove/tone down shine, remove small object, extreme color correction, and sharpen out-of-focus image etc.
In the subsequent part of the session, trainees interacted with keen interest and raised questions about how to make career in the field of editing & productions. Mr. Dutta also gave few tips on how to manage and balance album/ photo mood according to client’s requirements. Trainees were very happy and with energetically put attention in learning process throughout the session. Mr. Dutta was very happy by the participation and interest shown by the participants in the program.
Mr. Dutta summed up the session by answering queries and deliberating on the enormous scope for designers and artists leading to a decent livelihood for young creative/innovative personnel. The session ended with a heartily thanks to Mr. Dutta by support domain trainer Mr. Sarada Prasad Nanda in appreciation for taking the time out to educate the trainees.
