Exposure Visit of Mushroom Grower Trainees (Batch - 8, Accenture - 12)

Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur arranged an exposure visit to AB Mushroom Farm Bangalipada, Khetrajpur, Sambalpur for the betterment of the professional ethics of trainees. The visit was accompanied by Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera (Domain Trainer) and Mr. Sarada Prasad Nanda (Centre Coordinator) along with all Mushroom Grower trainees on February 11, 2023, which helped them understand things from the practical point of view. The students arrived at the farm, where they were greeted by Proprietor Mr. Shanti Prakash Pradhan of AB Mushroom Farm.
Mr. Shanti Prakash Pradhan explained the various stages and processes of mushroom production. He demonstrated different methods of bed preparation, such as the bed method, heap method, cage method, and spiral method.
He also deliberated on the topic of preparation of the growing location, preparation, and maintenance of planting spawn, preparation of growing beds and spawning, Mushroom growing care, etc.
He suggest the valuable idea of before making to start mushroom farming, decision following factors have to be considered to become successful in the commercial mushroom production business: for successful participation and monitoring purposes, the mushroom farm should be located closer to the farmer's home due to the availability of abundance of water presence. Simple access to raw materials at affordable costs in the area and simple access to workers at less expensive costs & availability of power at affordable rates, as electricity is a crucial component in the growth of mushrooms as per your chosen different mushrooms cultivation. The farm should be free of industrial pollution like chemical vapors and sewage disposal. The farm should have enough space for expansion in the future period of time. The trainees were very eager and raised a number of questions on the subject and Mr. Pradhan answered them. Mr. Pradhan highlighted that profitability is more when mushrooms are harvested at the bottom stage.
Students got a real feeling of a Mushroom Grower during this visit. Indeed it was a great exposure for the aspirants in order to gain a great learning experience. Mr. Sarada Peasad Nanda extended his gratitude to the proprietor AB Mushroom Farm for his kind cooperation, permission, and support he rendered to make the visit a success with the accomplishment of the objective. Trainees were very happy and were thankful to Don Bosco Tech for organizing the field trip.
