Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera, the domain trainer, initiated the session with a warm welcome and introduced the guest lecturer, Mrs. Anjali Oram from AB Mushroom Farm, Sambalpur.
The primary objective of the lecture was to illuminate the dynamic aspects of mushroom cultivation and the influence of seasonal changes on different mushroom varieties. Mrs. Anjali Oram commenced the session by highlighting the crucial connection between environmental factors and mushroom growth. Various mushroom types, including oyster, paddy straw, and white button mushrooms, were explored in relation to their preferred climatic conditions. This provided trainees with valuable insights into the nuanced requirements of each mushroom type, empowering them to optimize production throughout the year.
The lecture delved into seasonal variations, with a specific focus on temperature, humidity, and light conditions. For instance, the cultivation of cold-loving mushrooms like oyster and paddy straw during winter was discussed, while white button mushrooms were highlighted as suitable for the spring season. Attendees were encouraged to align their cultivation practices with the natural cycles of each season to enhance both yield and quality.
Practical tips and techniques for creating controlled environments, including temperature-controlled growing rooms and specialized cultivation methods, were also shared. During the interactive segment of the session, trainees displayed keen interest, actively participating and posing questions about pursuing a career in mushroom cultivation. Their enthusiasm and energy throughout the session were commendable.
Mrs. Anjali concluded the session by addressing all queries raised by the trainees, emphasizing that mushroom farming is a highly profitable agri-business that can be initiated with low investment and space. The session concluded with heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Anjali by Mr. Sarat Chandra Dash, expressing appreciation for her time and effort in educating the trainees.
