On July 15, 2022, Don Bosco Tech Society Ongole celebrated World Youth Skills Day with an engaging and impactful program. The event commenced with an introduction by the trainer, Mr. T. Mithra Manohar, who warmly welcomed the participants. Following this, the Rector, Fr. Jose K., delivered an inspiring message on youth empowerment, emphasizing the importance of developing interpersonal skills and the necessity for young people to continuously upskill and reskill to meet the demands of the evolving job market.
Mr. Bala Raju, the Cluster Coordinator, further enriched the session by explaining the benefits of Don Bosco Tech training. He highlighted the significance of World Youth Skills Day, noting that it provides young people with the opportunity to showcase their skills through various development programs. This day serves as a crucial link between youth and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, employers and workers' organizations, firms, development partners, and policymakers. It underscores the strategic importance of equipping young people with the skills needed for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
The event also brought attention to the challenges faced by marginalized groups, including young women and girls, young persons with disabilities, youth from poorer households, rural communities, indigenous peoples, and minority groups, as well as those affected by violent conflict and political instability. The ongoing global crisis has accelerated several transitions in the world of work, adding layers of uncertainty about the skills and competencies that will be in demand in the future.
The program concluded with a thoughtful closing note by the trainer, Mrs. K. Prathibha, leaving participants inspired and motivated to continue their journey of skill development and empowerment.
