As part of the Retail Industrial Exposure Program, students from Don Bosco Tech Society had the opportunity to visit Croma Store, Indiranagar, on October 15, 2025. The visit was designed to offer students firsthand experience of the inner workings of a modern retail store, providing them with practical insights into store management, customer engagement, and sales operations.
The primary objective of the visit was to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world retail practices. Students gained an understanding of the various store sections and their respective functions, explored career opportunities in retail, and learned about effective customer service, sales techniques, and product knowledge.
During the visit, students engaged in an interactive session with the HR representative from Croma. The discussion highlighted current job openings, career growth paths, and the essential skills required to succeed in the retail sector. Emphasis was placed on the importance of communication, teamwork, and in-depth product knowledge as key elements for a successful career in retail.
The store walkthrough provided students with a closer look at different sections:
-
In the Mobiles & Accessories section, students observed product displays, learned how to compare features, and understood how staff engage with customers.
-
In the Laptops & IT section, they explored ways to explain technical specifications and assist customers in making informed choices.
-
The Home Appliances section offered insights into product arrangements and live demonstrations.
-
At the Billing & Customer Service section, students learned about POS systems, the billing process, and effective handling of customer queries.
For students planning similar visits, the experience offers invaluable lessons: observe staff interactions, take note of product displays, inquire about sales techniques and service standards, and understand how every role contributes to the smooth functioning of the store.
The visit to Croma was not only an educational experience but also an eye-opening journey into the dynamic world of retail, leaving students inspired to explore opportunities in this fast-paced sector.
