Industrial visits play a vital role in bridging classroom learning with real-world applications, and this was clearly demonstrated during the visit of the D.Com trainees of Don Bosco Skill Mission to the Schneider Electric Data Center in Whitefield, Bengaluru, held on 21 November 2025. Organized as part of their curriculum, the visit offered students a deep and authentic insight into the functioning of a modern, large-scale data center.

The learning experience was coordinated and facilitated by Mr. Devendra Honnappa, Ms. Bhavana S, the Secure Power Team from Schneider Electric Bangalore, and Mr. Prashanth Shetty, DGM – CSR, Schneider Electric India. Their combined expertise and guidance provided students with a comprehensive understanding of data center infrastructure, operations, and industry standards.

The day began with an engaging forenoon session in which faculty and Schneider Electric professionals explained the stringent testing, monitoring, and maintenance procedures that govern mission-critical data center components. Students were introduced to operational workflows, safety measures, system redundancy, and the vital role each element plays in maintaining uptime and reliability for global digital systems.

In the afternoon, trainees were granted the unique opportunity to step into the live Schneider Electric Data Center for an on-ground, real-time exposure. This rare insider access allowed them to witness the scale and sophistication at which modern data centers operate. Engineers on site demonstrated the key systems essential for uninterrupted data operations, including:

• Micro Data Centers
• Advanced Cooling Systems
• Environmental Sensors and Monitoring Tools
• UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) Systems
• PDU (Power Distribution Unit) Systems
• Other critical infrastructure solutions

Beyond observing the machinery, students interacted directly with industry professionals, allowing them to ask questions, understand practical challenges, and gain clarity on industry expectations and career pathways.

This industrial visit proved to be more than an academic requirement. It offered the trainees a transformative learning experience, connecting theoretical concepts with live operational environments. The exposure not only strengthened their technical foundation but also inspired confidence and aspiration as they prepare for promising careers in data center management and IT infrastructure services.

The visit stands as a testament to Don Bosco Tech Society’s commitment to industry-aligned learning and skill development, ensuring that students are equipped not just with qualifications, but with practical competence and real-world insight.
