Every tour and visit is backed by learning experience. Keeping this in mind, Don Bosco Tech Society (karunapuram) organized a day trip to Grand Vaishnavi Hotel and Reliance Smart Balasamudram. Both are located in Fathimanagar of Telangana state. The enjoyable ride was held on March 3, 2020, for Accenture Phase-10 of Food and Beverages (F&B) trainees.
The trainees entered Grand Vaishnavi Hotel and visited the Food & Beverage department. After that, they visited the banquet halls, PNR rooms, and Minibars. There the trainees observed Buffet System for the functions and parties held in the Hotel. There was a small refrigerator in the hotel room that is stocked with especially alcoholic beverages and snacks for the guest.
The Chinese Chef came to meet the trainees and he briefed the trainees about the special cuisines and its importance at the hotel. He showed the manner of table settings in the F&B department. Then the exposure event moved on to the most important aspect of hospitality called ‘grooming’ in Food and Beverage Services - Steward.
"Grooming is the top important aspect in the hospitality sector,” said John (Captain, F&B department). He gave the guidelines to be followed and said, “Grooming includes; uniform should be spotless and ironed well, nails should be clean and well-manicured, and steward should not bend and swing his/her arms. And finally, a steward should polite always.”
Then the Sales Associate trainees obtained the erudition about the store in Reliance Smart (Balasamudram). On entering inside the mall, the trainees were awestruck to see how each product was set and displayed in every department separately. It was observed that separate sections were allotted to particular products, equipments, items, vegetables, frozen items, high values, food, and nonfood, etc. All products are available in all varied quantities and levels in the market.
Several types of food items and kitchen utensils were seen stuck in their particular sections. One of the Customer Associates showed how to face the products, and even to check the expiry date. He also showed how to calculate the expiry date and best before date of a particular product to expound the distrust of customers.
The Store Manager asked the trainees to gather at one place and sought their feedback about the reputed store. He was so happy to hear positive comments from them.
After having to listen to the trainees, the Store Manager took some time to explain as to how best they can help the customer while choosing the right option. He also gave some tips as to how to treat the customer while explaining the product. One very important thing he mentioned was not to open up the actual product price while demonstrating. He suggested the trainees not to share anyone confidential issues raised to the store.
The manager was enamored to learn the knowledge of Don Bosco Tech’s trainee. He was really happy and assured us to take some retail trainees in his store.
At the end of the day, the trainees were seen happy because they got an idea of their respective field of work. They were indeed happy to be part of the grooming session and briefing on every department in the Hotel as well as the Retail Store. The event was useful for the trainees as they are preparing, practically and mentally to secure a job in some reputed companies.
