Don Bosco Tech Society had the privilege of hosting an enlightening and highly engaging technical session on 10 February 2026, led by Mr. Bidyut Borua, Senior Service Advisor at NEXA Motors, Rangajan. With years of hands-on experience in the automobile industry, Mr. Borua brought practical knowledge, industry insights, and real-world perspectives that deeply resonated with the trainees.
The session commenced with a warm introduction of the resource person, tracing his professional journey in the automobile sector. Mr. Borua shared how the industry has evolved over the years, highlighting its expanding scope, technological advancements, challenges, and promising career opportunities. His narrative not only informed but also inspired the trainees to envision a future in the dynamic world of automotive technology.
The core focus of the session revolved around safety precautions, car servicing processes, BS6 car facilities, and the functioning of diesel and petrol engines. One of the most intriguing discussions centered on the difference between BS4 and BS6 engines. Mr. Borua explained that BS4 engines produce comparatively higher emissions, contributing more to environmental pollution. In contrast, BS6 engines are equipped with advanced emission control systems and multiple sensors that significantly reduce harmful exhaust gases. He emphasized how the transition to BS6 technology marks a major step toward environmental sustainability and cleaner mobility.
Another important segment of the session addressed the procedures followed during the first servicing of a vehicle. Mr. Borua elaborated that the first service is crucial for ensuring the long-term performance of a car. It typically includes changing the engine oil, checking and replacing the oil filter if necessary, tightening nuts and bolts, adjusting brakes and clutch, and thoroughly inspecting the vehicle to ensure smooth and safe operation. He stressed that timely servicing enhances vehicle life and performance.
The trainees showed keen interest when Mr. Borua explained why BS6 vehicles contain a large number of electrical wires. He clarified that BS6 engines rely heavily on sensors and electronic control systems to regulate fuel injection, monitor emissions, and optimize engine performance. These advanced systems require extensive wiring to ensure accurate communication between various components, thereby improving efficiency and reducing pollution.
A detailed explanation was also provided on the importance and function of engine oil. Mr. Borua described engine oil as the lifeline of an engine. It lubricates moving parts, reduces friction, prevents overheating by dissipating heat, cleans internal components by carrying away dirt and deposits, and protects metal parts from wear and corrosion. Through practical examples, he helped trainees understand how proper maintenance of engine oil directly impacts engine durability and performance.
The session concluded on a motivating note. Mr. Borua encouraged the trainees to cultivate passion, discipline, and continuous learning in their professional journey. He emphasized that success in the automobile industry requires adaptability to technological changes, dedication to quality work, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
The trainees expressed heartfelt gratitude for the knowledge and practical insights shared during the session. The interactive nature of the program made it both educational and inspiring. Overall, the session proved to be immensely beneficial, equipping the trainees with technical understanding and professional guidance that will help them confidently step into the evolving automobile industry.
The event stood as a testament to Don Bosco Tech Society’s commitment to providing industry-oriented learning experiences that bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application.
