On 5th March 2024, Mr. V. Amarnadh Reddy, the General Manager of the Royal County in Proddatur, Andhra Pradesh, served as the resource person for a guest lecture on various aspects of the hospitality industry. Mr. Reddy began by discussing the working hours within the hotel industry, particularly focusing on the steward designation. He explained the shift-wise schedules, highlighting the different groups' working hours.Following this, he explored the distinction between resorts and restaurants, emphasizing their unique roles and offerings within the hospitality sector. Mr. Reddy then elaborated on the advantages of working at a resort, including career development opportunities, employee benefits, and a conducive work-life balance. Later, he delved into the various roles and responsibilities within the hotel industry, detailing the duties of front desk agents, housekeeping staff, food and beverage staff, and recreation staff. In his advice to trainees, Mr. Reddy stressed the importance of continuously mastering skills, developing excellent communication abilities, staying informed about industry trends, and maintaining personal health, hygiene, and grooming standards. During the Q&A session, trainees inquired about the contract period to work in hotels and how to address the perception of hospitality professionals as servants. Mr. Reddy explained that the contract duration typically aligns with the employee's willingness to work and advised trainees to change people's perceptions through exemplary service and professionalism.
