The Don Bosco Tech Society in Yadgiri hosted a vibrant and insightful parents’ meeting on 27th May 2025 at 12:00 PM, welcoming twenty enthusiastic parents to the DB Tech Centre. The session opened on a serene note with a devotional prayer song by Ms. Snehalata and Ms. Chaitra, whose heartfelt performance created a reflective and harmonious atmosphere for the gathering.

Mr. Devindrappa, Coordinator of the Welive Project, set the tone for the meeting by introducing the array of training programs currently offered at DB Tech. Highlighting the quality and comprehensiveness of the courses, he shared a compelling success story of his own daughter, a DB Tech alumna, who now thrives professionally in Bangalore. This personal account underscored the transformative potential of skill-based training for students and inspired confidence among parents.

Mr. Sharanappa C. Amarapur followed with a presentation on the evolution and growth of the Don Bosco Tech Society over the years. He shared notable achievements, particularly in facilitating meaningful employment for students. Emphasizing the importance of flexibility and openness to relocation, he encouraged parents to support their children in exploring wider career opportunities, thereby fostering both personal and professional growth.

Ms. Pratibha, the Community English Trainer, elaborated on the structured pathway that students follow to achieve job readiness. From corporate tie-ups and career guidance to interview preparation and professional mentoring, her session highlighted the practical steps undertaken to ensure students are fully equipped for the workforce. This provided parents with a clear understanding of the center’s commitment to nurturing employable and confident professionals.

The session culminated with an inspiring address by Centre Head, Fr. Francis Shabu, who shared three defining experiences from his professional journey:

  1. Field Work Experience – Hospet, 2002: Fr. Francis recounted his time observing the challenges faced by women laborers from the Raichur region, earning as little as ?45 per day. This experience reinforced the urgent need for skill-based empowerment initiatives, particularly in economically disadvantaged areas.

  2. Recruitment and Resume Review – 2012: While reviewing resumes from students across Bidar and Gulbarga, he identified common gaps in professional documentation and awareness. This observation highlighted the critical role of soft skill training and mentorship in preparing young professionals for the job market.

  3. Placement Challenges with Earlier Batches: Fr. Francis shared the initial difficulties in convincing students and families to embrace employment opportunities outside their hometowns. Through consistent counseling, career workshops, and engagement with industry professionals, the center gradually built trust, paving the way for successful placements and enhanced career prospects.

The meeting concluded with parents sharing their own experiences and aspirations for their children. Their reflections, often filled with gratitude and hope, underscored the profound impact of the Don Bosco Tech Society’s efforts on both students and their families.

The 27th May parents’ meeting was not only an informative session but also a testament to the power of education, guidance, and community collaboration. By sharing success stories, professional insights, and personal reflections, the event strengthened the bond between the Society and the families it serves, reaffirming a shared commitment to student growth and holistic development.
