On June 5, 2025, Don Bosco Centre for Social Action (DBCSA), DB Tech Yadgiri, observed World Environment Day with a meaningful and well-organized celebration. The event commenced at 10:30 AM with a tree plantation drive, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. The drive was led by notable guests including Mr. Mariyappa from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Yadgiri; Ms. Nirmala Surpukar, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and District Child Protection Officer (DCPO); representatives from the Forest Department; Fr. Francis Shabu, Centre Head and Director of DBCSA Yadgiri; Fr. Saji George, Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Institute, Yadgiri; Mr. Darshan, State MIS Coordinator from DB Tech; and other Fathers from Don Bosco institutions.

Following the plantation activity, the participants assembled in the program hall for a formal event. The program was anchored by Mr. Mallikarjun S. Kurkundi and began with a prayer song performed by DB Tech trainers. Mr. Sharanappa C. Amarapur, MIND’S Coordinator, delivered the welcome address, followed by an introductory speech by Fr. Francis Shabu.

Mr. Mariyappa delivered the inaugural address, encouraging participants to consider tree planting as a gift to nature and urging everyone to contribute actively to environmental conservation. Ms. Nirmala Surpukar spoke about the adverse effects of plastic on health and the environment, emphasizing the need to adopt eco-friendly alternatives in daily life.

Fr. Saji George, in his presidential address, highlighted the value of living in harmony with nature and the importance of greening the surroundings of educational institutions.

Fr. Francis Shabu further reinforced the message by underlining the responsibility of nurturing plants regularly and invited everyone to commit to planting and caring for at least one tree. He also shared insights into the DB Tech training programs and placement successes, linking vocational education with social responsibility.

The event concluded at 12:30 PM, leaving the participants inspired to make environmentally conscious choices and take proactive steps in preserving the natural world.
