International Yoga Day this year carries the theme 'Yoga for well-being' when society is still recovering from the impact of the COVID pandemic.7th International Yoga Day 2021on Monday, Don Bosco Tech Punalur celebrated the day in a virtual meet. The main purpose of the celebration was to spread awareness of Yoga. International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21 since 2015 following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. A record 177 countries supported the resolution. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in India and is helping people lead a healthier lifestyle. This was the first time we celebrated Yoga day in our center. We 3 staff members and 35 trainees participated in the program. The program started at 10:45 am with a prayer song by Miss Princy student of Retail.Mrs.Gracy Francis (English Trainer ) gave the welcome speech. She gave a valuable and advisable speech about Yoga day. She said that the day is marked to raise awareness of yoga. Scientific research has proven that Yoga can help reduce stress levels, increase awareness, build immunity and strong physical and mental health along with help regularize the systems of the body overall. This year the International Day of Yoga is putting its focus on well-being beyond the immediate impact on physical health. International Yoga Day 2021, which will be observed with the theme 'Yoga for well-being', at a time when society is still recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mrs. Geethu (Center Coordinator cum RetailTrainer) talked about the awareness and benefits of Yoga in daily life. Yoga brings balance between body, soul, and mind.
It helps us to understand the purpose of life and how to survive in the changing environment"We should make efforts to take yoga from cities to villages and town areas. Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together physical, mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind. It is a form of exercise that is performed through diet, breathing, and physical posture. International Day of Yoga is also known as World Yoga Day. Yoga helps to maintain a balance between oneself and the environment. It acts as an aid to one's health and brings a balance between body, soul, and mind. It helps us to deal with several problems, worries, etc. By regular practice of yoga, an individual can rid of health-related problems and promotes self-healing. It enhances personal power and increases self-awareness, removes toxins from the body, removes negative thoughts from the mind, reduces stress and tension in the physical body. The person feels rejuvenated and energized. It gives the power to control the body, mind and increases flexibility. It improves brain function, helps in reducing weight, lowers the risk of heart diseases, etc. Students arranged some cultural programs about Yoga Day, like skits, Speeches, Videos, Songs, Poems, etc. We arranged a video presentation for yoga. Several other programs were performed to make trainees understand the awareness and benefits of yoga.“On this International Yoga Day, motivate your loved ones to practice yoga and stay healthy ”, Mr. Das gave the vote of thanks. Our program wound up by 12.15 pm with National Anthem.
