Don Bosco Tech Punalur arranged a “Placement Orientation” session through Google meet on August 6, 2020 for the current batch of Retail Management and Data Entry trainees. Mr. Amit K (National Placement Head), Mr. Alok Kumar (National Placement Coordinator), Mr. Juby Thomas (State Coordinator, Kerala), Mr. Digit Jose (State Finance Coordinator, Kerala), Ms. Anila Samson (State MIS cum M&E Coordinator, Kerala), the staff members, and 30 trainees participated in the session.

The session started at 2.30 pm with a warm welcome by the state coordinator Mr. Thomas. Mr. Amit addressed the trainees and explained the importance of Placement Orientation. The main purpose of Placement Orientation was to furnish with a better knowledge of employment for a good carrier. He invited feedback from the trainees about the online class and he received a good response from the trainees. Mr. Amit began the session with a question regarding the value of education. He asked what were the importance of education and the purpose of it. Then he asked another question ‘the importance of the job’. Some trainees answered. Then he explained about interviews, placement, etc. Some of the trainees asked some questions regarding interview tips and placement. He said that the ‘first impression is the best impression’ and talked about Grooming, Self-introduction, Attitude, Experience i.e. all need at least one year experience for better salary and job. He talked about skills and knowledge with an example of a ‘saloon’. He said, “The barber has the skills related to the hair styling and others have only knowledge of hair cut”. Mr. Alok Kumar gave an orientation about employability skills and, communication skills. They explained to trainees to keep active and smile and work well for the future life.

The session was informative and it ended with the active participation of trainees by 3.40 pm with thank you note.
