From a Village Dreamer to a Retail Leader — The Inspiring Journey of Dibyananda Mukhi

Sambalpur, Odisha —
In a small village in the Bargarh district of Odisha, a young man once dreamed of standing on his own feet and supporting his family. That young man was Dibyananda Mukhi, now a shining example of how skill training can truly transform lives.

Back in 2013, Dibyananda joined Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur under the Sales & Marketing program. He came from a humble background — his family’s income was very limited, and though he had completed his 12th standard, he could not continue higher studies due to financial problems.

But Dibyananda had something special — the determination to learn and grow.

When he first joined the centre, he was shy, soft-spoken, and afraid to communicate in English. However, with continuous encouragement from his trainers, and through his own hard work, he began to change.

During the 3-month training, Dibyananda learned important skills like Customer Handling, Communication Skills, Point of Sale (POS) operations, Teamwork, Digital Payment, and Basic Computer Knowledge.

He practiced role-plays, stayed back after class, and helped other trainees improve their speaking confidence.

Soon, the transformation was visible — the once-shy trainee became one of the most confident and energetic learners in his batch. His trainers were proud of his dedication and discipline.

At the end of the course, Dibyananda scored 92% in his final assessment, becoming one of the top performers. With support from the placement cell of Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur, he got his first job at Anand World as a Sales Executive, earning ?7,000 per month.

That was the beginning of his success story.

Within a few months, Dibyananda’s hard work and cheerful customer service made him stand out. He was awarded Employee of the Month” twice and was soon promoted to Team Leader.

Today, after years of dedication and growth, Dibyananda works as an Inventory Manager at V2 Retail Mart, Sambalpur, earning ?30,000 per month. He is now able to support his family, educate his younger siblings, and live with pride.

“Don Bosco Tech changed my life. I learned not just skills but also confidence and self-belief. I will always be grateful to my trainers and the Sambalpur Centre for showing me the path to success,” says Dibyananda with a proud smile.

Dibyananda’s journey from a shy village youth to a confident retail professional is a true reflection of Don Bosco Tech’s mission — Empowering Youth, Transforming Lives.

As Don Bosco Tech celebrates 20 years of skill development excellence, Dibyananda stands as a real-life example of hope and hard work, inspiring hundreds of young people to dream big and build a better future.
