Skill Champions Contest – Food & Beverage (F&B) Domain

As part of the Skill Champions Contest under the 20 Years Pre-Launch Celebration of Don Bosco Tech Society, Don Bosco Tech–Sambalpur successfully organized a Salad Cutting with Garnish and Sandwich Making Competition for trainees of the Guest Service Associate (Food & Beverage) trade on 02 January 2026. The objective of the activity was to provide trainees with a practical platform to demonstrate their culinary skills, creativity, teamwork, hygiene practices, and time management.
Prior to the competition, the programme commenced with a briefing session conducted by the centre staff. During this session, the rules and regulations, judging criteria, hygiene and safety standards, time limits, and presentation requirements were clearly explained to all participants in line with the Skill Champions Contest guidelines.
The trainees were divided into three teams, each led by a team leader:
- Team A: Diptirani Dang (Team Leader)
- Team B: Achita Kullu (Team Leader)
- Team C: Jyostna Rani Rout (Team Leader)
The competition was conducted smoothly within the allotted time. All teams actively participated and demonstrated their skills in salad preparation with garnish and sandwich making while strictly following hygiene and safety practices. The trainees showcased creativity, proper preparation techniques, neat presentation, and effective teamwork.
The evaluation was carried out by the Guest Service Associate (F&B) Trainer, with Centre Head Sr. Sarita present as the guest and evaluator. Judging was done based on the prescribed criteria for the Guest Service Associate (F&B) domain, including hygiene and safety, preparation technique, taste and quality, presentation, and time management.
After careful evaluation, Team B led by Achita Kullu was declared the winner of the competition. The efforts and performances of all participating teams were appreciated by the evaluators, and constructive feedback was shared to encourage continuous skill improvement.
The prize was distributed to the winning team by the staff members. The event concluded successfully, motivating the trainees and reinforcing the importance of practical learning, discipline, and professionalism in the Food & Beverage sector.
