"An Awareness Programme On HIV, AIDS"

Don Bosco Tech (Chitradurga, Bangalore) conducted an awareness program on HIV & AIDS on March 3, 2020, at Chithra Don Bosco's training hall for the Retail trainees. Mr. Nagaraj [(Counselor, ICTC (Integrated Counseling and Testing Center, Govt. district hospital, Chitradurga)] had briefed the trainees on HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) & AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). Mrs. Shruthi (Trainer-Retail) welcomed the guest and introduced him to the trainees.
He explained the history of HIV as he began his session. He aimed at conveying the message of AIDS virus and the symptoms of the disease, and how to identify it. He shared some of his own examples while working with the HIV community and he also described the HIV patient's mood and physical behavior.
He underlined the main cause of HIV transmission from one person to another said, “This is mainly due to the exchange of contaminated fluids from an infected person.” He added, “The fluids carrying the virus may include; sexual fluids, blood or breast milk. Ways through which this can happen vary from person to person and time to time.” He also explained in detail the prevention of HIV’s spread and treatment at different stages. He advised the trainees ‘to treat HIV patients with respect.’
Finally, he informed about HIV treatments and requested that trainees pass this message to the people they know and not to dilute the message they learned. The trainees raised their doubts to which the resource person explained with clarity. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Rangappa (Trainer- CE&ITES).
