14 Mar 2020
Intending to create awareness on ‘Coronavirus; Myths and Reality’ Don Bosco Tech (Chitradurga) conducted a program on March 14, 2020, at Chithra Don Bosco's training hall, for its trainees. It was coordinated by Mr. Raghavendra Naik (Programme Associate of Yuvaspandana organization, Chitradurga).
Mr. Naik explained the history, symptoms of the prevalent disease and measures. “All know the spread and contagious of COVID-19, as it is a hundred times deadlier than Spanish flu killer, killed 500,000+ people worldwide as on date,” he said.
He said, “According to the WHO (World Health Organization), about 80% of cases are mild. Symptoms include fever, cough, and fatigue. At least 15% of infections progress to pneumonia, resulting in shortness of breath, fatigue, fever, and low blood oxygen saturation, requiring hospitalization.” He added, “Currently, about 3.5% of cases have resulted in death.”
He proposed some standards to curb the spread of the disease; washing hands regularly, covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing. He said, “Avoid close contact with anyone who shows signs of respiratory illness such as cough and cold.” He also said, “Beware and follow the advice of your health care provider.”
After the fruitful session, the trainees clarified their doubts, to which Mr. Naik handled tactfully. The session was informative which was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Shankar (Trainee, Sales Associate).
