In the face of the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Don Bosco Tech, Kuntighat, remained committed to its mission of nurturing young talents. Despite the physical closure of our institute, we persevered in our efforts to provide enriching experiences for our students. On July 17, 2021, we hosted our second online virtual guest lecture for Batch 2, featuring the esteemed presence of Ms. Rubina Yasim, a seasoned professional in the hotel industry.

Ms. Yasim, introduced to our students by Mr. Atanu Biswas, brought with her a wealth of experience garnered over five years in the field of Food & Beverage service. Currently serving as an executive at Hotel Pride Kolkata, she exemplifies dedication and proficiency in her domain.

The session commenced at 10:30 PM via Google Meet, a platform familiar to our students and esteemed guest alike. Welcomed warmly by eager faces on screens, Ms. Yasim began by shedding light on the essence of the hospitality industry and how institutions like Don Bosco could serve as catalysts in realizing their dreams.

Engaging actively in English, Hindi, and Bengali, Ms. Yasim navigated through various facets of the industry, emphasizing the significance of longevity in one's career trajectory within the same establishment. She delineated the importance of punctuality, the art of guest interaction, and the nuances of different departments such as housekeeping and Food and Beverage stewardship.

Throughout the interactive session, students were encouraged to articulate their goals and aspirations. Ms. Yasim, along with resource faculty, provided insights into the corporate landscape, nurturing a vision for future leadership among the students.

The dialogue was vibrant, with students posing insightful queries which were met with generous responses from Ms. Yasim. They gained profound insights into the intricacies of the hospitality domain, understanding the synergy between various departments and the pathways to career progression within the industry.

As the session drew to a close, gratitude flowed from both sides, with students expressing their appreciation for the invaluable knowledge imparted by Ms. Yasim. The event concluded on a note of inspiration and empowerment, underscoring Don Bosco's commitment to shaping resilient and capable professionals.

In retrospect, this virtual engagement not only bridged physical distances but also connected aspirations with possibilities, embodying the spirit of adaptation and resilience amidst challenging times.
