Field Visit ITC EAST Batch 8 FY 2021-22
23 Dec 2021
The Field Visit for Batch 8 of the 2021-22 DB Tech program at Kuntighat was an enriching experience held at Hotel Rivere Habitat in Chandannagar on December 23, 2021, at 1 pm. The visit, spearheaded by 26 enthusiastic students and guided by our esteemed trainer, Mr. Atanu Biswas, provided invaluable insights into the operations of the hospitality industry.
Our destination, Joloshree, a renowned 4-star restaurant situated along the picturesque Rani Ghat on Strand Road, Barabazar, Chandannagar, unfolded its charm as we embarked on a journey of exploration. The restaurant, housed on a 33-meter long boat, boasting dimensions of 4.87 meters in breadth and 1.40 meters in depth, showcased not only its architectural brilliance but also its operational efficiency.
Led by Mr. Kaushik Banerjee, the affable manager, our visit was divided into two slots to accommodate the bustling activity within the hotel premises. The first slot, comprising 13 students, delved into an immersive tour of Joloshree, covering its myriad departments, from the bustling kitchen to the serene ambiance of the upper and lower deck restaurants.
Under the expert guidance of Mr. Atanu and Mr. Kaushik, our students gleaned firsthand knowledge of the intricacies involved in managing a premium establishment like Joloshree. The opportunity to witness the meticulous organization of supplies in the storeroom, the seamless coordination in the lobby area, and the warm hospitality at the reception left an indelible impression on our minds.
Following the completion of the first slot, the remaining 13 students eagerly awaited their turn, congregating at the open-air cafeteria. As they embarked on their journey through Joloshree, they were met with the same enthusiasm and attention to detail from our hosts.
Throughout the visit, the hospitality extended by Mr. Kaushik and his team was exemplary. Their willingness to facilitate our exploration, including granting permission for photography within the restaurant, further enhanced our learning experience.
As we bid adieu to the hotel premises around 3:00 pm, we departed with a newfound appreciation for the intricacies of hotel management and hospitality. The Field Visit emerged as a resounding success, providing our students with invaluable insights and practical knowledge that will undoubtedly shape their future endeavors in the industry.
