The main objective of the meeting was to create a common platform, where teachers and parents come together to discuss students’ performance and devise ways to enrich their learning experience and also to resolve concerns over students’ specific academic or behavioural issues. As part of the SBI Debt recovery agent curriculum, Don Bosco Tech Sabbavaram organized a virtual ‘Parent-Teacher Meeting’ on 05th March 2021.

Activities during the event:

The parents started reporting the virtual meeting through google meet at10AM, SBI Domain trainer Mr Shiva, welcomed the Director Rev.Fr. Balashowry, other domain trainers, Parents and Trainees. He gave the description of the meeting and explained the details of the SBI Debt Recovery Agent course. The two months course is designed with an impressive curriculum, which includes an updated syllabus, Guest lectures, industrial visits, assignments, assessments and Placements and also it provides additional benefits like spoken English, "Life-Skills and Interview-Skills,’’. Mr Shiva interacted with the parents of their children's academic performance, students' attendance, assignment details, assessment results, active participation of trainees in Guest Lectures and Industrial visits, Placements and their careers in future.

A formal interaction took place with Fr. Balashowry, Director of Don Bosco Tech, Sabbavaram. He gave a brief Introduction about Don Bosco Tech Society to the parents. The “Salesians of Don Bosco” is an international society founded by Don Bosco. Catholic priests and Brothers who are members of the Society work for the development and education of the young especially those most at risk. Don Bosco Tech has received significant recognition in the areas of skill development, CSR partner and established NGO in livelihood.

"We are proud of the recognition that, we have earned for our performance over the years. Don Bosco Tech with a team of 800+ employees is presently working in 29 states with a target to impart skill-based training to 20 lakh youngsters by 2022. Bridge digital, social and economic divide in India by significantly contributing to the development of the marginalized youth by enhancing employability and life management skills. And also father shared the vision and mission of the Institute and the other Domains along with facilities of the Institute. The best practices of effective teaching-learning process and focus on quality education and how it helps students in placements everything followed said Rev.Fr. Balashowry.

Domain Trainers also shared their experiences with parents. Ms Rani Francis, the discussion was focused on students’ specific strengths and weaknesses in individual subjects and students' discipline in classrooms and their active participation in classes.

Outcomes of the event:

Parents became aware of teaching-learning methodologies and various activities going on for overall student welfare. There was one to one session between parents and student mentors for analyzing students’ performance and steps necessary for the improvement of their skills. Parents expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm for this interactive session. The Parent Teacher Meeting came to an end with the conclusion that the progress and development of the students depend on the joint efforts of parents and teachers. For this purpose, parents agreed to keep a close vigilance on the actions of their child, and to keep in constant touch with the mentors.
