Don Bosco Tech is proud to have hosted a comprehensive HIV/AIDS awareness session on December 1, 2023, at our Sabbavaram campus. With the participation of 35 individuals, including staff and trainees from our esteemed E-Commerce and AI-Data Quality Analyst programs, the session aimed to educate and empower our community regarding HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention, treatment, and combating associated stigma and discrimination.

Led by esteemed guest speaker, G. Srinivasa Varma, a Social Worker renowned for his expertise in public health, the session commenced with a foundational overview of HIV/AIDS. Participants delved into understanding the virus, its transmission modes, and the profound impact it has on individuals and communities.

Throughout the session, various aspects of HIV/AIDS were explored, including transmission routes such as unprotected sexual intercourse, needle sharing, and mother-to-child transmission. Essential preventive measures like safe sex practices, needle hygiene, and the importance of HIV testing and counseling services were emphasized.

Of significant importance was the dedicated discussion on addressing stigma and discrimination against those living with HIV/AIDS. Participants gained insights into the detrimental effects of stigma on mental health and the urgent need for creating inclusive environments.

Guest speaker G. Srinivasa Varma also shed light on HIV/AIDS treatment options, notably antiretroviral therapy (ART), underlining the significance of early diagnosis and access to healthcare. Information on support services like counseling and community-based organizations was shared, empowering participants with resources to navigate through challenges associated with HIV/AIDS.

Overall, the session equipped our trainees with vital knowledge and resources to prevent HIV infection and extend support to affected individuals, thereby fostering a more informed and compassionate community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to G. Srinivasa Varma for his invaluable expertise and guidance throughout the session. Additionally, we appreciate the active engagement of all participants and acknowledge the continuous support of our center Director, Rev. Fr. Arul Dass, in facilitating initiatives aimed at community empowerment and well-being.
