To inspire the trainees by the experiential words, Don Bosco Tech, Sabbavaram center had organized a virtual guest lecture for SBI Debt Recovery Agent trainees on 26th February 2021. On the occasion, the eminent speaker Mr. Jobin Joseph (Senior Officer, Retail Liabilities Department, ESAF Small Finance Bank Ltd). Briefed on understanding operational aspects of debt collection and following ethical debt collection processes were covered during the session.
The lecture was attended by 21 students and three faculty members. The guest speaker Mr. Joseph was heartily welcomed by Mr. Sivaiah (Trainer, SBI Debt Recovery Agent). In the beginning, Mr. Jobin gave the introduction on Indian Banking and mainly focused on various aspects of debt collections and the legal debt collection process. The topics covered during the session were:
- Knowledge of operational aspects of debt collection to perform the task of collection lawfully Skills
- Procedure and pre-requisites for lawful debt collection as well Ethical debt collection practices and adequate knowledge of RBI's latest/ updated guidelines for the debt collections.
Thereafter, he explained the topics related to the ethical debt collection process, and also he briefly touched upon various Debt Recovery Laws such as;
- Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions (RDDBFI Act), 1993,
- Securitization & Reconstruction of Financial Assets & Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI)Act, 2002,
- The Debts Recovery Tribunals (DRTs) and Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunals (DRATs).
The session was very interactive and students participated enthusiastically. At end of the session, the vote of thanks was given by Ms. Rani Francies (Trainer, Soft Skills).
